Mildew from water damage and pet urine can not only deteriorate carpet and upholstery fabrics, but it can cause a musty odour that lingers indefinitely making life quite uncomfortable. Our Ulticlean specialists work fast to restore your place efficiently eliminating bacteria and odours using environmentally friendly disinfectants and deodorizers that quickly evaporate leaving your place smelling of fresh and clean air.

Safe for the environment

There is another misconception that steam cleaning is not environmentally friendly. Even though the process isnt entirely “green” because the machine runs on gasoline, the chemicals that are available to professionals are. Carpet cleaning manufacturers make several products for professionals that are Eco-friendly, and affective.

    Odours we remove

    • Pet urine and pet odours in carpet, rugs and upholstery
    • Smoke odour
    • Musty basement and mildew odours
    • Food and cooking odours

    How we treat odours

Odour comes from a source, so we find it first. Pet urine, for example, soaks below the fibres into the backing and pad. We treat the source, clean with hot water extraction and apply deodorizer so the smell does not come back as soon as the carpet is damp again.

    Disinfecting

We disinfect carpets, upholstery and hard surfaces, which is useful after illness, for rental turnovers and for daycares, indoor playgrounds and retirement residences.

    Deodorizing questions

Will the pet smell come back?

Treating the source, not just the surface, is what keeps it from returning. Very heavy, repeated contamination can need pad replacement, and we will tell you.

Can you remove smoke smell from furniture?

In most cases we can reduce it significantly with cleaning and deodorizing.

Pair with carpet cleaning or upholstery cleaning. Call 647-676-0576.

Odour removal in Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, Vaughan and Toronto

Bad smells in a home almost always have a source: pet urine in carpet pad, smoke in upholstery and drapes, moisture in a basement, or cooking residue in fabrics. Air fresheners cover the smell for a few hours. Real odour removal finds the source, cleans it out and treats what is left, so the smell does not come back the next humid day.

    Odours we treat

    Pet urine and pet odours

Urine soaks through carpet fibres into the backing and pad. The salts left behind pull moisture from the air, which is why the smell returns on humid days. We locate affected areas, apply an odour treatment that reaches below the surface, then rinse and extract. Read how to get pet urine out of carpet.

    Smoke odour

Tobacco, cannabis and fireplace smoke settle into carpet, upholstery, drapes and other soft surfaces. Cleaning the fabrics, then deodorizing, reduces smoke odour significantly. Heavy smoke damage may also need walls and ceilings cleaned or sealed by a painter.

    Musty and mildew odours

Basements, closets and rooms that stayed damp after a leak develop a musty smell. The moisture source needs fixing first. Then carpet and fabrics can be cleaned and treated. See water damage cleanup.

    Cooking odours

Strong cooking smells settle into upholstery, drapes and carpet, especially in open-concept homes. A deep clean of the soft surfaces usually clears them.

    Lingering odours after a move-in

Buying or renting a home that had pets or smokers is common. Cleaning carpets, upholstery, ducts and drapes before you move in gives you a fresh start.

    Our odour removal process

    1. Find the source. We inspect the room, and for pet urine we can use UV light to find old spots.
    2. Treat the source. An odour treatment suited to the cause is applied where it is needed.
    3. Clean. Hot water extraction rinses residue out of carpet, rugs and upholstery.
    4. Deodorize. A final deodorizing treatment helps neutralize what remains.
    5. Advise. We tell you if anything needs further work, such as replacing badly soaked pad.

    Disinfecting

We disinfect carpets, upholstery and hard surfaces. It is useful after illness in the home, between tenants in rental units, and in daycares, indoor playgrounds and retirement residences. Disinfecting products are applied according to their label directions, and we tell you how long to keep people and pets out of the area.

    Ducts and odours

If a smell is strongest when the furnace starts, the ducts may be part of the problem. Dust, pet hair and debris in the ducts can hold odours. See air duct cleaning and is duct cleaning worth it.

    More odour questions

    Will the smell come back?

Treating the source, not just the surface, is what keeps it from coming back. In severe pet urine cases, the pad may need replacing, and we will tell you before we start.

Can you remove smoke smell from a whole home?

We can clean and deodorize carpets, upholstery and drapes. Walls, ceilings and the HVAC system may also need attention for heavy smoke.

Is the treatment safe for pets?

Yes, once the area is dry. Keep pets out until then.

How long does odour treatment take?

Most rooms are treated and cleaned in a visit. Carpet and upholstery then need a few hours to dry.

How much does odour removal cost?

It depends on the cause, the size of the area and what needs cleaning. Call 647-676-0576 for a written quote.

    Who books odour removal

Pet owners book it when accidents have built up over time. New homeowners book it after moving into a home that had pets or smokers. Landlords book it between tenants. Families book it after a basement leak leaves a musty smell, and businesses book it for fabric seating and carpet that hold food or smoke odours.

We remove odours in Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, Vaughan, Toronto and across the GTA.

Can you remove odours from a rental unit between tenants?

Yes. We clean carpets, upholstery and drapes and treat odours so the next tenant starts fresh. Book it with move-out carpet cleaning.

Will cleaning the carpet remove the smell from the room?

If the carpet is the source, usually yes. If the smell comes from walls, ducts or a hidden moisture problem, those need attention too.

    Odour Removal Guides and Tips

    Keeping your home smelling fresh

Most household odours return because the source keeps building up. Clean up pet accidents right away and treat them properly, rather than covering the smell. Wash pet bedding, throws and cushion covers regularly. Keep indoor humidity between about 30 and 50 percent, especially in basements, to discourage musty smells. Use the range hood every time you cook, and run bathroom fans during and after showers. Change your furnace filter on schedule and have the ducts and dryer vent cleaned when they need it. Open windows on mild days to let fresh air through. Deep clean carpets and upholstery once a year, or every 6 to 12 months with pets or smokers in the home.

Can you remove cigarette smell from upholstery?

Usually, yes, a large part of it. Smoke residue sits in the fabric and padding, and cleaning plus deodorizing reduces it significantly. Very heavy smoke odour may need more than one treatment.

Can you treat odours in a car?

    Yes. See car interior detailing.

Do you treat odours in rugs?

Yes, including pet odours in area rugs, cleaned in your home.

Odours are easier to remove when they are treated early. If you notice a new smell after a pet accident, a leak or a move-in, call us before it settles deeper into carpet, pad and furniture. We will find the source and explain what it will take to remove it.
