Nobody Sleeps Alone

Millions of microscopic dust mites live inside your mattresses, upholstery & carpets. Mattresses are the most occupied living space with a life span of 15-20 years. We spend 8 hours a day sleeping on our mattress, and that means 1/3rd of our lives are exposed to the mites and bacteria in our mattresses. All these mites are triggers for asthma and allergies, meaning a periodic mattress sanitizing is crucial to avoid such reactions. No matter how new the mattress is, it will still contain dust mites. The only thing that varies among mattresses is the level of contamination of mites.

The Process

The process of cleaning a mattress is very quick and simple with minimal equipment and proper technique. UltiClean has developed and utilizes a simple, innovative process that will leave your mattress free of dust mites and looking brand new within 15 minutes. We eliminate any spots or stains that are noticeable on the mattress using proper non-toxic chemicals. Once those are gone, we can complete a sanitation process.

    Why clean your mattress

You spend a third of your life in bed, and a mattress collects sweat, skin flakes, dust and stains. Steam cleaning lifts dust, stains and allergens from the surface and freshens the mattress, right in your bedroom.

    How we clean mattresses

    1. Vacuum the surface and seams.
    2. Pre-treat stains.
    3. Clean with hot water extraction and low moisture so it dries quickly.
    4. Deodorize on request.

    Drapery cleaning in your home

Curtains and drapes hold dust and odours. We clean many fabrics on site without taking them down, so there are no rods to rehang and no shrinking from home washing.

    Mattress and drapery questions

How long until I can sleep on it?

Usually the same day, after a few hours of drying with good airflow.

Can you remove urine from a mattress?

In many cases, yes, with targeted treatment and odour removal.

Mattress cleaning in Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, Vaughan and Toronto

You spend about a third of your life in bed. Over months and years a mattress collects sweat, body oils, skin flakes, dust and the dust mites that feed on them, along with the occasional spill or accident. Sheets and mattress protectors help, but they do not stop everything. UltiClean cleans mattresses in your bedroom, without moving them out of the house, and most are ready to sleep on the same day.

    How we clean mattresses

    1. Inspect. We check the mattress type, the fabric and any stains.
    2. Vacuum. A thorough vacuum of the surface, seams and edges removes loose dust and debris.
    3. Pre-treat stains. Sweat stains, spills and accidents get targeted treatment.
    4. Low-moisture extraction. We clean the surface and pull the moisture back out, so the mattress is not soaked.
    5. Deodorize, on request. Useful for pet accidents and lingering odours.
    6. Dry. We recommend keeping the room ventilated for a few hours before making the bed.

    Mattress types we clean

    • Innerspring and hybrid mattresses
    • Pillow-top mattresses
    • Memory foam and latex, cleaned with very low moisture
    • Crib and youth mattresses
    • Futon mattresses and mattress toppers

    Dust mites and allergies

Dust mites are microscopic and live in bedding, mattresses, upholstery and carpet, feeding on skin flakes. For many people with allergies or asthma, their droppings are a common trigger. A professional mattress clean lifts a large amount of the dust and debris they live on. To keep the benefit, wash bedding weekly in hot water, use a mattress protector, and keep bedroom humidity between about 30 and 50 percent. Mattress cleaning is not a medical treatment, and if allergies are severe, talk to your doctor.

    Common mattress stains

    • Sweat and body oils: yellow patches that build up slowly.
    • Urine: from children or pets. Treat quickly to limit odour.
    • Coffee, tea and juice: blot right away with a white cloth.
    • Blood: blot with cold water only. Hot water sets it.

    Drapery cleaning in your home

Curtains and drapes collect dust, cooking odours, smoke and pollen, especially near windows that open. Taking them down, washing them and rehanging them is a big job, and many fabrics shrink or lose their shape in a home washing machine. We clean many fabrics on site, on the rod, so there is nothing to take down. Some delicate or lined drapes need specialist dry cleaning, and we will tell you if yours do.

    How often to clean

    • Mattresses: every 6 to 12 months, more often with allergies, children or pets in the bed.
    • Drapes: once a year, or when they look dull or smell of cooking or smoke.

Pair it with upholstery and carpet cleaning

Bedrooms are often cleaned all at once: carpet, mattress, headboard and drapes. See carpet cleaning and upholstery cleaning.

    More mattress and drapery questions

Can you clean a memory foam mattress?

Yes, with very low moisture, because foam holds water. It takes a little longer to dry.

Can you remove old urine stains?

Often we can reduce the stain and odour a lot. Very old urine that has soaked deep into the mattress may not come out completely.

When can I sleep on it?

Usually the same day, after a few hours of drying with good airflow.

    Do you clean both sides?

We can clean both sides of flippable mattresses. Most modern mattresses are one-sided.

How much does mattress cleaning cost?

It depends on the size, the number of mattresses and any stain treatment. Call 647-676-0576 for a written quote.

We clean mattresses and drapes in Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, Vaughan, Toronto and across the GTA.

    Can you clean pillows?

We can freshen pillows on request. Many pillows are machine washable, so check the label first, and replace very old pillows.

Can you clean a baby crib mattress?

Yes, with very low moisture. Let it dry completely before use.

Do drapes shrink when cleaned on site?

We test the fabric first. Drapes that risk shrinking or have delicate linings are referred for specialist cleaning.

Keeping your mattress fresh between cleanings

A mattress protector is the single most useful thing you can buy for a clean mattress. Choose a breathable, washable one and wash it every month or two. Wash sheets and pillowcases weekly in hot water. Vacuum the mattress surface every few months with an upholstery attachment, paying attention to seams. Let the mattress air out by leaving the bed unmade for an hour on a dry, sunny day. Rotate it head to foot every few months if the manufacturer recommends it, so it wears evenly. Keep bedroom humidity between about 30 and 50 percent to discourage dust mites. If a spill or accident happens, strip the bed, blot up as much as you can with white towels and call us early, because fresh stains come out more easily.

Can you remove sweat stains from a mattress?

We can usually lighten yellow sweat stains a lot. Very old stains that have set over many years may not disappear completely, but the mattress will be much fresher.

Should I replace my mattress instead?

If it sags or is past its useful life, replacement makes sense. If it is still supportive, cleaning is a good way to extend its life.
